A helicopter belonging to the KDF Boss General, unfortunately, met with an accident and ignited in Sintar, within the Endo ward of Elgeyo Marakwet, shortly after its departure from Cheptulel Boys Secondary School. It is reported that Major General Francis Ogola, the head of KDF, was among the passengers on board.
“We are proceeding in this House like everything is normal, and we are rumours of an air crash involving the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Francis Ogolla and five others,” Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo says in Parliament.
CDF Ogolla was appointed by his excellency President William Ruto among a list of about 10 nominees who were looking forward to filling the vacant post.
Ogolla trained as a fighter pilot before rising through the ranks to become commander of the Kenya Air Force. Before this appointment, he was the vice chief of the KDF. An avid reader and golfer, Ogolla comes from the Luo community, Kenya’s fourth-largest ethnic group.
