BMO, Bank of Montreal introduced a new name to their previous World Elite credit card tier, now known as BMO Ascend™ World Elite®* Mastercard®*.
This credit card continues to have strong insurance coverage in Canada with a $150 annual fee which is waived in your first year. However, if you wish to keep it longer, it can also be annually waived just by holding a premium chequing account. It seems clear to me that BMO wishes for this card to be their flagship “travel” product.
You earn 5x the points for every eligible $1 travel transaction & 3 points for every $1 spent on eligible dining, entertainment & recurring bills.
Your everyday spending just got reduced from 2 points for every $1 spent everywhere to 1 point. This would mean that in a year in which you have to pay the fee, you’d need roughly $23,000 in uncategorized spending just to break even! I was hoping to see another vertical design similar to their eclipse tier but the new design is still quite unique.
I can confirm that only your name of choice will be disclosed on the front, the numbers can be found at the back of the card. This safeguards some crucial information when paying in person. If you prefer one name to be displayed, please apply by phone and make this clear to the representative.
