As we enter the closing phase of the first week for Meta’s Instagram platform, “Threads,” it appears as though Elon Musk`s Twitter (also known as, X Corp.) has experienced a decline in user activity – Cloudflare data reveals.

Threads, dubbed the “Twitter Killer,” reported a staggering “100 million registrations during the past weekend,” as disclosed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Monday post on Threads.
Zuckerberg emphasized that this upswing was predominantly due to organic demand, and they haven’t even initiated their extensive promotional campaigns yet. It’s astonishing to think that only five days have passed!

Do you recall when Elon Musk strutted into Twitter HQ, grandly declaring, “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!”?
Well, it seems like Twitter’s traffic took his words a bit too seriously and decided to take a dive itself. Talk about life imitating art!

Meanwhile, according to Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudflare, Twitter is grappling with a significant traffic dip. Prince shared a chart on Twitter that portrays the considerable drop of the social media behemoth from “Rank 32” in “DNS rankings over time” in January 2023 to “Rank 37” by July 10th, 2023.

This fall hints at a troubling trend in user retention for the app. Data shows that on Android, the fraction of new users who persist in using the Twitter app beyond 30 days has dipped from 19% in May 2022 to a mere 16% in May 2023. By contrast, the retention rate for new Instagram users has remained stable at around 40%.

Adding fuel to the fire, Similarweb, a renowned web analytics firm, reported that Twitter traffic diminished by 5% during the first two days after Threads was launched compared to the previous week. Furthermore, compared to the equivalent days in 2022, Twitter’s web traffic has decreased by 11%, asserts Similarweb.
The Decline of Twitter – The Importance of Its Impact!
Numerous Twitter users, myself included, are transitioning to platforms that prioritize the interests of all users, unlike Twitter, which seems to favor alt-right narratives. One can’t help but speculate if the rate limits Twitter implemented this past weekend were actually an attempt to inhibit the Threads team from extracting data from Twitter’s social network prior to their launch.

It is also evident that despite being conspicuously absent from the trending tab on Twitter, Threads managed to attract over 100 million users in less than a week, securing a prestigious position #1 in Apple’s social networking rankings.
Elon Musk demonstrated his influential power by actively fostering misinformation on his platform. In a digitally altered screenshot, in a Twitter post. The thread shows Mark Zuck’s post, containing an inappropriate Instagram-Threads message.

This incident serves as compelling evidence of the persistent problem of propaganda campaigns plaguing Twitter, with @elonmusk and his doge buddy @dogeofficialceo seemingly reveling in the confusion it creates.
Threads Landing Page Traffic Surges
Despite accounting for just a segment of the signup activity, there was a swift surge in traffic on the threads.net landing page. Reference
