Like it or not, most of us spend a significant portion of our lives working. One factor that plays a substantial role in how productive and enjoyable those working hours can be is our workplace environment. From the comfort level of the actual physical space to the amount of social interaction taking place, the quality and condition of our work environment tend to greatly affect how we perform. Whether you are a member of senior management or a few months into your startup, these strategies can help you look forward to your workday with kids around.
So .. what even is “working remotely”?
It is a situation in which an employee works mainly from home and communicates with the company online by email and telephone or probably Zoom Video Communications.
Use visual cues to designate your workspace.
Create a designated area as your work zone and use it consistently. Help your kids build the association that when you’re sitting there, you are working and should not be disturbed.
Help kids create a routine and add structure to their day
Work with your kids to create their daily or weekly schedule. Give them opportunities to choose some of their own activities and help them be more independent.
Communicate with your manager and co-workers
If you think there will be distractions or interruptions to your calls or even your workday, let your team know! We are here for you and are willing to help!

Set realistic expectations of what you can accomplish
Set and manage expectations early on with your team and managers. Figure out your working hours, when you’ll be most available and how much you can get done.
Reach out for help or resources
These are extraordinary times and we must all come together (virtually) to help each other out. Reach out to your in-house coach if you need any help or counseling.
Bonus: “remove the word stress from your vocabulary.”
